A smile :)
It was a very usual day of
mine. I was waiting for the car, outside. There were lot of tired people
crossing me. Guess most of them were going home from work, exhausted, just like
me.
I was looking around, not
knowing how much more time I had to wait. Just then, I noticed a woman walking
towards me, from the farther end of the road. The woman was one of the drained
lot. When she came nearer I realized she was carrying a baby. She was lying on
her mother’s shoulder, worried. I felt really bad. I usually like children, and
I momentously smiled at the kid, when her mother was crossing me. Suddenly, as
though, sun’s rays are gleaming through darkened clouds, she smiled back at me.
It was like miracle. When a
complete stranger, that too, way too younger, and who doesn’t care about
what life, smiles at you, just because you smiled at her.
And, even more surprising was
she continued smiling at me, until her mother walked away from me and into a
building. Only then I realized many people were staring at me, probably
wondering why this idiot is so happy when all of us are tired and dreary.
My car too came and I got
in, lost in thoughts. I couldn’t forget that young little lady (who is the
reason behind this post). When I was
home, my dad was giving some money to a rag picker who usually comes home. My
dad sometimes tells me to give the money to him, when he was busy. So I am
quite acquainted with the old chap. He smiles at me, whenever I smile at him. It
feels so good. And I sense as though my whole day would be good and that I have
accomplished something great.
Yes. Just a smile from a
complete stranger can make your day, as it did mine. So, it takes a smile to
make or break your day.
Not convinced?
Here are a few reasons I
managed to gather, on why someone should smile. #1 It is so cost effective! :P
( As they say it uses very few muscles of the face than frowning!) #2 People
like smiling faces, not dull faces. (So,
you get a lot of friends and fans!) #3 Reduces your stress. #4 Makes you look
younger and more beautiful (As I read in a book, the author says those who look
younger than their age, smile a LOT!!) And most of all #5 It makes you feel
good.
Smile! Not a “plastic smile”
(as my mom calls those fake smiling faces!) but a true bright smile from the bottom
of your heart, which makes your eyes sparkle. :) :)
