Beware of the walls !
Beware
of the walls ! ‘Cause
that walls have ears?
Well ! Not just that.
It is because these are the walls of ignorance,
false pride, misunderstanding, self pity, cowardice, wealth, laziness, etc and
etc., that we build around ourselves. When not brought down at the right time,
these have the capacity to cause severe damage
Don’t all of us come
across some instances in life where we feel a transparent wall around us,
forbidding us to move any further? Like, when someone who is working under us
in position, comes up with a better idea than ours and expects us to
acknowledge and reward him/her ; when we meet an old friend with whom we had a
bad row with and try to speak with him/her ; when, in spite of having really
good points, to speak, we aren’t able to speak a single word out, in a place
where we are supposed to speak ; when we think ourselves and our idea inferior
to that of others.
We come across a lot
of such walls in our life. We at times fail to understand the amount of danger
they carry, thinking them as some simple hesitation. They have the power to
drain out our energy and limit our vision.
There was a lesson
for me in my school. It was named “The Selfish Giant”. In short, the story is,
a giant builds a big wall around his beautiful garden of flowers and fruits. He
wanted to prevent little children from playing in his garden. Instead of being
happy for what he did, he was actually left out with hatred and solitude. After
he realised his mistake, he brought down the wall of bricks and stones,
together with his wall of selfishness. Then, as any happy story ends, the giant
lived happily ever after.
As the giant did, let
us not bring down our compound walls, but let us break down the walls that we
have built around ourselves. For those are walls of convenience that we have
safely built, to safeguard us from the eyes of the society. But beware ! These
walls will also hide us from the eyes of success and growth, letting us to be
where we are & as we are, forever !
So, let us learn to
keep our hearts open, ‘without walls’, to everyone. ‘Cause this world has
enough boundary problems to solve. Let us not complicate it more with our
“human walls”.
